IBM Innovation Lab is hiring Storage Engineering Interns to join their R&D teams in Pune and Bangalore. This internship is ideal for students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree who want to dive into real-world projects that explore the future of cloud-native storage systems.


About the Internship

At IBM, interns aren’t just observers — they’re contributors. As a Storage Engineering Intern, you'll be part of the team that builds and experiments with next-gen storage systems. You'll contribute to Proof of Concepts (PoCs), explore distributed architectures, and help design components that could shape the future of IBM’s product line.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Document technical work and present findings to the team


Who Can Apply

This opportunity is open to students who:

  • Are currently in the final or pre-final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program
  • Have a background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or similar fields
  • Can commit to a full-time internship as per academic calendar
  • Are immediately available (preferred)
  • Have strong communication and team collaboration skills

  • A GitHub portfolio or personal projects related to back-end or storage technologies will be a plus.


Skills You Should Have

Required:

  • Good grasp of data structures, algorithms, and operating systems
  • Understanding of storage technologies like file systems and object/block storage
  • Experience with back-end development through coursework or personal projects
  • Familiarity with Git or any version control system
  • Eagerness to learn and solve problems

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or other container tools
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, or IBM Cloud
  • Understanding of distributed systems and basic networking
  • Experience with automation scripts and dev tools
  • Knowledge of AI/ML or interest in data science will be considered a bonus


Internship Location

Selected interns will work from either:

  • Pune, Maharashtra
  • Bangalore, Karnataka

The role may follow a hybrid working model, depending on the team’s requirements and project timelines.
