The company offers roles across three main career tracks for freshers: GenC (Generation Cognizant), GenC Pro, and GenC Next, each designed to match varying levels of technical expertise and offering distinct career progression and compensation packages.


On-Campus Exam Pattern (GenC Roles)

The Cognizant hiring process typically involves a multi-stage assessment designed to evaluate your communication, aptitude, and core technical skills. The recruitment process generally follows this sequence:

1. Communication Assessment (Round 1)

This is often an elimination round focusing on English language proficiency.

2. Aptitude Assessment (Round 2)

This round assesses your quantitative and logical abilities.

Sections:

  1. Numerical Ability (Quantitative Aptitude): Topics like Number Systems, Geometry, Percentages, Ratios, Time and Work, and Profit & Loss.
  2. Logical Reasoning: Includes Blood Relations, Directional Sense, Syllogism, Seating Arrangements, and Number Series.
  3. Verbal Ability: Focuses on Grammar (Tenses, Prepositions), Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms), and Reading Comprehension.
  4. Note: The Aptitude and the subsequent Technical Assessment may be conducted together.
3. Technical Assessment (Round 2/3)

This evaluates your fundamental technical and problem-solving skills.

  • Format: Typically involves coding questions and/or database queries.
  • Skill Clusters: Candidates often select a preferred cluster during registration, such as:

  • Cluster 1 (e.g., Core Programming): Coding (Java) and Database/ANSI SQL.
  • Cluster 2 (e.g., Data Science & Cloud): Coding (Python) and Database/ANSI SQL, plus Cloud Fundamentals (MCQs on Cloud Service Models, Deployment Models).
4. Technical and HR Interview (Round 3/4)

Candidates who clear the online assessments are called for interviews.

  • Technical Interview: Expect questions on your core computer science concepts (DBMS, OS, OOPs, Data Structures), projects, and a programming language of your choice.
  • HR Interview: Focuses on behavioral aspects, teamwork, company fit, your strengths and weaknesses, and long-term career goals.
