About India Systems Development Lab (ISDL)

Established in 1996, the India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) is part of the worldwide IBM Infrastructure division. Headquartered in Bengaluru with operations in Pune and Hyderabad, ISDL teams work across the IBM Systems stack including:

Processor Development (Power and IBM Z)
Accelerators and ASCIs
Firmware, Operating Systems, Systems Software
Storage and Cloud Software
Performance and Security Engineering
System Testing and Validation

ISDL has contributed to over 400+ patents and has adopted modern development practices like Agile, Design Thinking, and DevOps.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer at IBM ISDL, you will work across the full product development lifecycle — from design and coding to testing, validation, and support. You will collaborate with global product management and development teams to deliver high-quality solutions for IBM’s Hybrid Cloud and AI clients.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze product requirements and design efficient solutions.
Develop and test core IBM Systems software products.
Implement features, fix bugs, and perform performance analysis.
Work on validation, system testing, and client issue resolution.
Collaborate across geographies for product delivery.
Contribute to open source and IBM proprietary projects.
Ensure security, scalability, and usability in software components.

Domains You May Work In

Systems & Cloud Software Engineering
Develop enhancements, automation, and integration for IBM Compute and Storage Systems.
Work with Virtualization, I/O, Reliability, Availability & Serviceability.
Enable seamless platform support for Hybrid Cloud and AI workloads.

AI Software Engineering
Deliver enterprise AI solutions on IBM Z systems.
Work as a full-stack developer integrating AI/ML/DL into enterprise workloads.
Build ethical, secure, and scalable AI systems for clients.
Work as a full-stack developer integrating AI/ML/DL into enterprise workloads.

Required Technical Skills

Knowledge of Operating Systems, OpenStack, Kubernetes, Containers, Cloud concepts, Security, Virtualization.
Proficiency in C, C++, Go Lang, Python, Ansible, Shell Scripting.
Familiarity with REST APIs, DevOps, CI/CD, Microservice architecture.
Experience with GitHub and open-source tools.

For AI Roles:

Understanding of AI/ML/DL concepts and frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost).
Experience with Jupyter Notebooks, Linux, Kubernetes, REST APIs, UI skills.
Knowledge of NLP, Data Science workflows, and open-source databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
Familiarity with CPU architectures (little/big endian).

Preferred Skills

Practical experience with Java, GoLang, ReactJS.
Familiarity with storage systems (SAN, NAS, DAS), RAID levels, and file systems (NTFS, ext4, ZFS).
Knowledge of networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Exposure to backup and recovery tools (Veeam, Commvault).
Experience with cloud storage (AWS S3, Azure Blob, Google Cloud Storage).

Eligibility

Education: B.E/B.Tech, M.Sc, MCA (CS/IT/ECE and related fields).
Batch: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 pass-outs.
Freshers and candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid Model – Mix of remote and on-site work depending on project needs.
Primary locations: Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad.
General daytime shift; occasional flexibility may be required.
